Animal Sanctuaries

There are some animal groups that run “sanctuaries" (which differ from No-Kill shelters). Animal sanctuaries are a wonderful concept, but before placing any animal in such a setting, it is important that you physically visit and/or check references. In truth, such an endeavor is incredibly expensive and many exist on the edge of financial failure. In these cases, animals may be warehoused in crowded or unsuitable conditions.

Of course, there are some reputable facilities in existence. It is wonderful to imagine that there is a place where your animal can live out its life happily; however, be aware of potential problems and do the necessary research.

Some animal sanctuaries include:

Best Friend’s Animal Sanctuary, Kanab, Utah

Farm Animal Sanctuary, California and New York

Wolf Haven International, Colorado

Wolf Haven Sanctuary, Tenino, Washington
